How do I install the stucco profiles?

The products are easy to install using the appropriate adhesive. The corners can be individually cut to size using a miter saw and a miter box. The strips can then be painted over with a varnish or emulsion paint. You will find detailed installation instructions with a step-by-step explanation on the respective product pages. If you have any questions, we will be happy to help you.

Can I paint over the mouldings?

All strips are already primed at the factory and can be painted over with a varnish or emulsion paint after installation.

Can the products also be applied to surfaces that have already been painted?

The stucco profiles can also be mounted on surfaces that have already been painted. Please note that these must be dry, clean and free of grease.

How can I process the butt edges of the mouldings?

The seam adhesive DecoFix Extra from Orac Decor or Adefix Plus from NMC is suitable for connecting the butt edges. After the adhesive has been applied to the ends, they must be pressed against each other. The adhesive that oozes out must be removed immediately with a spatula. Then, after 20 minutes, the remaining adhesive is removed again with a spatula and the joint is lightly sanded. You can then fill the joint with a joint filler. BASIXX strips from Orac Decor can be easily glued with the FDP500.

Can I also stick the decorative strips onto wallpaper?

We recommend that you remove the wallpaper before applying the decorative elements in the relevant places. If this is not possible, we recommend that you use DecoFix Power to install Orac Decor profiles. NMC profiles can also be attached to wallpapered surfaces. However, it is important that the surfaces are load-bearing, clean, dry, dust-free, grease-free and level.

How do you install a flexible strip?

First, the butt edges of the flexible strips are glued together with seam adhesive. The strips can then be attached to the wall using the DecoFix Pro assembly adhesive from Orac or Adefix from NMC. Detailed information on installation and the flexibility of the individual products can be found in the data sheets for the respective strips.

What does mitering mean?

  1. When installing crown molding at the corner of a room, you often need to miter it to ensure a seamless fit. This article will show you how to miter crown molding and what tools you will need. Measure the length of the crown molding and mark where you need to miter it.
  2. Use a miter saw to cut the crown molding at 45 degrees. A miter box is a good way to help you make an accurate cut. Make sure the blade setting is set correctly to ensure a perfect fit.
  3. Hold the crown molding at the corner of the room to check that the fit is correct. If necessary, miter again until the fit is perfect.
  4.  Use the appropriate adhesive to attach the crown molding to the wall. Be sure to spread the glue evenly to ensure a strong bond.
  5.  Repeat this process for all corners of the room where you want to install crown molding.
  6.  Bottom line: Mitering crown moulding can be challenging, but it only requires a few tools and some practice. With this guide, you should be able to install crown moulding seamlessly and professionally.

Glue

Which glue should I use?

Please note that there are special glues for each type of molding to ensure optimal adhesion. For example, Adefix is the right glue for NMC moldings and FDP500 for Orac Decor moldings. For damp rooms such as bathrooms or outdoors, we recommend using Adefix Plus or FDP700, as these glues have been specially developed for damp conditions and therefore ensure better adhesion. Use the appropriate glue for the molding you have chosen to achieve the best result.

How long can I use the glue?

The glue has a shelf life of 12 months from production. The exact expiry date can be found on the print on the glue.

How can adhesive residue be removed?

  • NMC Adefix: immediately with water

Material

What is PS rigid foam?

PS rigid foam, also known as polystyrene rigid foam, is a synthetic plastic made from styrene monomers. It is a lightweight and inexpensive material that is ideal for making ceiling moldings and is available in our range. In dry and air-conditioned rooms such as living rooms or bedrooms, PS rigid foam can be used to create a decorative and stylish atmosphere.

What is PU rigid foam?

PU rigid foam, also known as polyurethane rigid foam, is a plastic made from an isocyanate and a polyol. It is a robust material that is well suited for use in humid environments.

What is HDPS?

HDPS (High Density Polystyrene) is a special type of polystyrene rigid foam that is often used in the building and construction sector. HDPS is very resistant to moisture due to its low water absorption. It is therefore particularly suitable for use in humid environments such as bathrooms or kitchens. However, due to its high strength and density, it is particularly suitable for the construction of decorative elements such as stucco moldings, which require high stability.

What is the difference between PS rigid foam, PU rigid foam and HDPS?

PS rigid foam is a lightweight and inexpensive material. In dry and air-conditioned rooms such as living rooms or bedrooms, PS rigid foam can be used to create a decorative and stylish atmosphere. PU rigid foam is more elastic and resilient than PS rigid foam, which makes it particularly attractive when used in the production of stucco moldings and other decorative elements. HDPS has a higher density and strength compared to conventional PS rigid foam, making it a durable and resilient material. In addition, HDPS is less elastic and resistant to mechanical stress compared to PU rigid foam.

What material are the stucco profiles made of?

The profiles are made of high-quality materials that allow for robust handling and easy processing. The material and properties of the products vary depending on the product type. Detailed information can be found in the data sheets on the respective product pages.

What is Duropolymer?

Duropolymer is a high-quality, moldable material that is ideal for making decorative moldings, rosettes and other architectural elements. It is made from a mixture of polyurethane resin and minerals and is very robust due to its high density and strength. The surface of Duropolymer is smooth and uniform, making it an ideal choice for decorative elements in interiors. It is also water-resistant and easy to clean, making it a good choice for damp rooms such as bathrooms. In our online store we offer a wide range of moldings and other elements made of Duropolymer.

Product Information

Can I also use the products outdoors?

The NMC FA13 and MA13 strips are suitable for outdoor installation. Please note that you will need to use the special FDP700 adhesive for Orac Decor or the Domostyl Hybrid adhesive from NMC for installation. The stucco strips must then be painted over with a facade paint to ensure weather resistance.

Are the stucco strips fire-rated?

The standard Orac Decor® products have fire protection class E. This means that the product can burn, continues to burn and does not automatically stop burning. The fire classification according to DIN 4102 is not normally required for the installation of the NMC decorative profiles, as the small quantities do not fuel a fire. The strips can withstand heat of up to 70°C, then they begin to melt.

What is the heat resistance of the products?

The maximum heat resistance is 70 °C.

Are stucco moldings water-repellent?

There is a large selection of water-repellent skirting boards made from different materials. PU rigid foam stucco moldings are generally water-repellent and can also be used in damp rooms such as bathrooms or kitchens. HDPS stucco moldings, on the other hand, have a lower water repellency. It is important to note that water repellency can also depend on the coating of the stucco moldings. In general, however, stucco moldings should be protected from direct contact with water. When installing in damp rooms, care should be taken to ensure that the sealing is carried out properly to prevent water from penetrating. To ensure that the stucco moldings have the desired properties for the area of application, it is advisable to contact our experts or our customer service before purchasing.

Which stucco moldings are suitable for which rooms?

Stucco moldings can be used in different rooms, whereby the choice of molding also depends on personal taste. In damp rooms such as bathrooms or kitchens, however, water-repellent moldings such as PU rigid foam moldings should be used. All types of stucco moldings are generally suitable for living rooms and bedrooms. Both simple, plain models and more elaborate, decorative moldings can be used here to set accents and beautify the ambience of the room. In hallways and stairwells, simple but elegant stucco moldings are ideal, visually enhancing the room and giving it a special touch. In rooms with high ceilings, larger and more eye-catching moldings can be used to emphasize the volume of the room. However, it is always important to pay attention to the dimensions and proportions of the room when selecting stucco moldings in order to create a harmonious overall picture. If you have any questions about choosing the right stucco moldings, please feel free to contact our customer service.

What are multi-mouldings?

Multi-mouldings are variable stucco mouldings that offer a flexible and versatile solution for decorating rooms. Unlike conventional stucco mouldings, which are usually only attached to one place on the wall, multi-mouldings can also be used in several places, such as skirtings, panel mouldings or cornice mouldings. This makes them an extremely practical and functional option for interior design. In our shop you will find a large selection of high-quality multi-mouldings in various versions and designs to meet your individual needs.

Indirect lighting

Are there lighting systems that go with the lightning mouldings?

Orac Decor® and NMC do not offer lighting systems themselves. However, we do have lighting systems from Brillux TuneLight in our range that can be combined with the stucco mouldings.

Are aluminum holders required for the LED strips?

If the indirect lighting is to be directed towards the floor, aluminum holders or a reflective strip should be attached. We also recommend these for all products made of Duropolymer® (CX items) or NOMASTYL®, as otherwise the light would shine through the material.

Which LED strips should I buy - 12 or 24 volts?

This can be chosen according to taste, but 24 volts usually creates a more even light.

What temperatures can the products withstand?

The maximum permissible temperature for the products in combination with LED strips is 70 °C.

Can the indirect lighting also be directed downwards?

The indirect lighting can also be directed the other way around, i.e. downwards. To do this, an aluminum bracket must be attached behind the strip into which the LED strips can be clipped.
